Charles David Mikels, better known as Charlie, Sweetie, Daddy, Uncle Charlie and Bumpa, was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father while holding the hands of his Son and Daughter on August 4, 2026. He was reunited in heaven with the love of his life, Jeanie Mikels, who had passed away last year.
Charles was born in Page, West Virginia and moved to Sanford, Florida in 1978 where he and his wife raised their 2 children. He is survived by his Son, Chuck Mikels (Kimberly), his Daughter, Cathy Joe Chism (Bret), and Daughter of his heart, Terri Mikels. Charles has 5 living grandchildren; Joseph, Hannah, Morgan, Pheobe, and Charlotte, and one granddaughter, Katy who was waiting in heaven for him along with his wife, parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Charles also has loving family in West Virginia that physical distance could never separate.
He had sparkling sky blue eyes, mischievous smile and a calm presence that made all around him feel safe and loved. He was happiest fiddling in his workshop, cuddling his 3 dachshunds, telling stories that were mostly true and coming up with his next prank.
He loved his family, animals, woodworking, pen making, toasting marshmallows and watching the sun set with a cup of coffee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Baldwin Fairchild on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Friends and family gathering begins at 11 am, the service will begin at 12 with reception following at the same location.
