Don was born in Philadelphia on 09/02/1936.
He graduated from St. John The Baptist High School in Manayunk/Philadelphia, PA before joining the U.S. Army, where he served honorably.
Don was married to Faith McKeogh Hettenbach on 8/24/1963. Don was friends with Faith’s brothers and eventually won her over!
Don worked in the industrial field of Automated Doors for The Stanley Works, which later became Stanley Magic Doors, where he retired as the Southeast Regional Manager.
Don was a member of Church of the Annunciation, in Altamonte Springs from the time that the church was created until his passing.
Affectionately known as PopPop to his grandkids, Don was very proud of, and involved with, his family. He was passionate about traveling, old cars, his grandchildren and his favorite canine pal, Sammy. He particularly enjoyed traveling to Europe and pointing out to family the places he visited while in the Army. Don could point out virtually any vintage car from the 50’s and tell you it’s year, make and model from memory. He also loved the music of the 50’s and early 60’s.
Don was a big advocate for family time and looked forward to family beach weeks, holidays and family vacations and gatherings.
