Dorothy L Scott

Dorothy L Scott of Sanford, Florida, passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on February 15, 1933, in Dothan, Alabama, Dorothy grew up in Winter Haven, where she graduated from Winter Haven High School. In 1956, she moved to Sanford, where she would spend the rest of her life.

Dorothy married Harold E. Scott, affectionately known as "Papa," on November 9, 1952. They shared a beautiful marriage of 59 years until his passing in 2012. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her strong Christian faith and her deep love for her family.

She was an active member of the Sanford Church of Christ, where she contributed to her community with dedication and grace.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Harold and daughter Ginger. She is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Theresa) Scott, Gary (Darlene) Scott, and Ben (Brittany) Scott, all residing in Sanford. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and her niece, Janet Riddle of Winter Haven.

Dorothy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her commitment to her community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew her.

The family will host friends from visitation from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm with interment following in Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
