Edward "Whitey" Schweickert 74, of Sanford, passed away Wednesday September 10, 2014. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be truly missed by everyone. Whitey was born on February 18, 1940 in Springville, NY, the son of Ralph and Marion (Munger) Schweickert. Whitey followed in his dad's footsteps as a builder. After the family relocated to Lake Mary, he worked on the construction of Space Mountain at Disney World and the ATT high rise building in Altamonte Springs. He became a general contractor and ended his career building homes. Whitey got his nickname when his hair turned white at the early age of 20. He was an avid fisherman and loved being on the water. He loved the Gators and Dolphins. He is survived by his daughters Pat Wright and Nancy Weinbaum, sons Walter, Iggy, and Ed Jr., stepson Dana Hopkins and stepdaughter Kelly Goodwin and many grandchildren and great grand children. He was preceded in death by Helen, his beloved wife of 25 years, in 2010.
