Edwina Bennett McKeen was born in Dover, New Jersey in 1927, the year Babe Ruth hit 60 home runs. Her parents were Charles and Irene Penzenik. She was the oldest and only girl with 3 brothers, Eddie, Rudy, and Emile. She lived through the stock market crash in 1929, Empire State building completion in 1933, through the depression of 1941, and WWII ending in 1945. Following this, she got married to Harold Bennett and had her first child, daughter Shirley in 1946, and son, David in 1950. Harold preceded her in death due to cancer. She worked as an office manager for AUD Plumbing and Heating and Lakeland Lumber in NJ. She met Keith in the 1970s and they were married on Sept 24, 1977, in Woodbine, GA. They lived in Florida until 1994. During this time, they united their extended families for holidays. She and Keith cared for and loved their 5 children and 8 grandchildren – even getting to meet great grandchildren. They inspired a love for education, gardening, travel, cooking, and music.
Memories of fishing off their dock, camping in their RV, working with crafts, knitting and gardening are cherished. She and Keith were fabulous cooks and passed along their family recipes. They most of all, were an anchor of faith for the family – Having daily morning prayer together and a steadfast trust in the Lord. She attended the Calgary Assembly and inspired multiple generations to follow Jesus, and they are forever grateful.
Keith was the love of her life and preceded her in death on January 29, 2010. She has been well cared for in Longwood, FL until this time. Her family feels grateful for her peaceful passing and long full life of 98 years.
