She never tired of waking up early to get Brenda to 5:00 am swim practices or attending her swim meets in many different states. She and Brenda had a beautiful horse named Sundance and they loved to spend time grooming and riding him.
Brenda and Brian spent many hours a day outside riding popular toys like Crazy Karts, Big Wheels and Schwinn bicycles. Mom daily told them to be home before dark and was always glad to see them when they arrived home after a long day playing outside.
The family made their way to Virginia, Mom worked at the Pentagon, Brenda and Brian were nearby. Mom and Brenda were and are big cat lovers. They had many Siamese and other breeds over the years. Pasha was a favorite Siamese name—after the lead character in Doctor Zhivago movie. Their cats were and are family.
One memorable experience was a family vacation in San Francisco where Mom broke her wrist rollerblading in Golden Gate Park, put the rental car through a motel wall, and Brenda ran into Aerosmith Joe Perry at dinner. It was a crazy, but memorable vacation. California was beautiful in 1983.
Mom and Brian watched Ohio State Football games together including at Ohio Stadium and on TV. Mom didn’t attend OSU but closely affiliated with the school and was proud of Brian’s OSU graduation in 1984.
As mom got older, Brenda often lived with her and together they nurtured each other in the way only mothers and daughters can. Mom appreciated everything Brenda achieved in life greatly valued their lives together.
Brenda and Mom most recently lived together in Sanford, Florida. Their idyllic home overlooks a large pond with wildlife including ducks, cranes and other species. Mom quickly came to love Florida and loved to tend to her ferns and flowering plants. She enjoyed Brian taking her for walks around the complex when he visited and genuinely connected with her environment. She enjoyed doing The NY Times crossword with Brian. Brenda liked to listen in and provided many crossword answers as well.
Frances overcame many early life challenges and achieved many things. She was most proud of her two children, Brenda and Brian, and knows they were by her side as she passed from this world, to a better life. She appreciates being buried at OakLawn as it is a perfect ending to her time on earth. Mom awaits the day when Brenda and Brian join her in heaven, together for evermore.
