She was born in Estill ,South Carolina on October 20, 1924. Geneer graduated from Estill High School.
She was married to George Leonard Thompson on January 20, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Geneer wore many different hats throughout the years. Her first job was a sales clerk at her uncle’s general store in Estill. She was then employed at the Hampton County Courthouse. She was a government employee at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fl and there she met the love of her life. As a Navy wife, Geneer faithfully served and supported for 28 years.
Geneer was a loving Christian mother for over 75 years. She, George, and their three daughters were stationed in Jacksonville and Key West Florida; Hawaii, Millington, TN, Sanford, FL, and Washington, DC. Upon retirement George and Gen chose Sanford, FL as their home. George preceded Gen in death, May 1978. Gen has resided in Sanford from 1970 to her passing.
Gen lovingly served her church and community. She joyfully served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, nursery worker, Day Care teacher, choir member, chairperson of the missions committee, clothes closet, kitchen coordinator, ministered to shut ins, and served on the personnel nominating committee. Gen served as a Grey Lady in school clinics, school homeroom mother, and was a member of Lady’s Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve. Where ever she lived her neighbors were important to her. She nurtured, fed, cared for, and witnessed to them. Gen was a true patriot; she loved the United States of America.
Gen’s favorite hobby was loving and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She collected postcards from around the world. Gen was an avid fan of the Florida Gators and Orlando Magic.
