George Maier, a cherished son, loving partner, caring brother, and dear friend, passed away on May 29, 2023, at the age of 27. His untimely departure after a courageous battle with colon cancer has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. George's vibrant spirit, adventurous nature, and unwavering love will be remembered forever.
Born on September 4, 1995, George was the beloved child of Earl and Tina Maier. From a young age, he displayed remarkable intelligence, creativity, and a natural talent for problem-solving. After graduating from high school, George embarked on a journey of higher education, attending the University of Central Florida (UCF). It was during his time at UCF that he met the love of his life, Michaela Pain, and their connection would endure through the years.
Following his graduation, George relocated to Seattle, Washington, where he pursued a career as a software engineer. He found his calling at Amazon, where he dedicated his talents to supporting the development of the Alexa product. George's exceptional skills and dedication to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Beyond his professional endeavors, George's zest for life was infectious. He shared a deep passion for exploring the great outdoors, and Washington state provided the perfect backdrop for his adventurous spirit. George found solace and joy in hiking through the breathtaking National Parks and indulging in friendly pickleball matches with his close friends. His love for nature and his zeal for new experiences brought him immeasurable happiness.
During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, George's desire to see the world led him on an incredible journey. He made the bold decision to live out of his car, embarking on a cross-country adventure, city to city, park to park. George's thirst for exploration knew no bounds, and he seized the opportunity to witness the beauty and diversity of the landscapes that unfolded before him. Towards the end of his journey, he made a crucial stop in Portland, Oregon, where he rekindled his bond with Michaela. In the years that followed, Michaela became his steadfast companion, both in thrilling hiking adventures and in the journey of life itself.
George's infectious enthusiasm, warm heart, and genuine love for others touched the lives of countless individuals. He had an extensive family network that spanned aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom cherished him deeply. George's magnetic personality drew people to him, and his ability to make everyone feel seen and heard was a testament to his exceptional character.
Throughout his life, George remained devoted to his life partner, Michaela. Their love story was one of unwavering support, shared dreams, and a deep connection that endured until the very end. Their bond was a source of strength for both of them, and their love brought immeasurable joy to their lives.
George leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and cherished memories. His vibrant spirit will continue to inspire and his impact will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
George is survived by his life partner, Michaela, his loving parents, Earl and Tina, and his brothers, Earl and Frank. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. As we mourn the loss of George, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the loving embrace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
A memorial service for George will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Willow Creek Church, 4725 E. Lake Drive, Winter Springs, FL 32708 with a reception to follow at Kappa Delta Sorority House, 4303 Greek Park Drive, Orlando, FL 32816.
