

George A Ramsaran a long time resident of DeBary, Florida, passed away at his home at the age of 90 on Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was born on February 2, 1924 in Knollis, St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies to Arthur and Henrietta Ramsaran. George is pre-deceased by his wife of 67 years, Pearl and survived by son, Neville (New York) and daughter, Jennifer Ramsaran Johnson (Longwood), 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a large extended family. He had long career with the Nestle Corporation in Jamaica learning the business from the ground up during his 30 years. He relocated his family to New York in the early 70s spending the next 30 plus years building a new and different life for those he loved. After retirement George and Pearl moved to their new home in Debary, Florida. Here they spent time working in their garden, exploring their new city and spending time with family and friends. Devoted members of their Methodist church they assisted with special projects and fund raising. George was an avid reader, loved baseball – Go Mets – and the outdoors and was curious about history. He will be remembered for his calm and practical view of the world and no nonsense advice. He loved travel and knew that being there was a far better education than reading about it or seeing it on television. His favorite place in the world was Scotland for its glorious vistas and warm, friendly people. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 3rd at the Baldwin Fairchild, Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. Services will be held at the Oaklawn Chapel on Saturday, July 5th with interment to follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery. A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society. -Billy Graham
