Gertrude Jean Broomfield, 93, of Deltona passed away, Wednesday July 13, 2016 in Halifax Health Hospice in Orange City. Jean was born on May 10, 1923 in Mount Kisco, New York; the daughter of James A. and Eleanore Ritch. She worked some in her younger years, but was mostly a homemaker. She married Frank Childs in 1949. They lived in Connecticut until moving to Florida in 1973, and he preceded her in death in 1974. Jean enjoyed her animals, and watching wrestling on television. Jean is survived by her children, four daughters Linda Hanks and her husband Walter of Tennessee, Donna Bayne and her husband Leigh of Deltona, Florida, Brenda Decker and her husband Bill of Illinois, Regina DelaRosa of Tennessee, two sons Jimmy Childs and his wife Sharon of Connecticut, Bill and wife Patricia of Tennessee, 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Visitation will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771 on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm with Tom Levins officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Mary Cemetery, 240 Greenleaf Lane, Lake Mary Florida 32746. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Humane Society or St. Judes Hospital in Jean’s honor.
