Henry A. Johnson Jr., age 87, passed away on July 28th, 2026. He was born on April 18th, 1939, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to Henry & Alice Johnson, where he attended R.J. Reynolds High School before earning his AA degree from Wingate College and his BS degree from Pfeiffer College. Henry devoted most of his professional career to Lockheed Martin, where he served as a Data Center Director before retiring in 2000. However, he wasn’t quite ready to slow down and went on to work at DRS Roofing of Central Florida for over twenty years.
Henry was a loving and supportive father to Kerry Swaney, Melissa Baker, Christopher Johnson, and stepdaughter Mary Meyers, and a warm grandfather who cherished his time with his grandchildren.
Henry never met a stranger. He had a natural gift for connecting with people within minutes of meeting them. His playful humor and easy charm often made people feel like old friends. Most of all, Henry loved to make people laugh. Whether it was through his generous compliments or a witty joke, Henry never failed to bring a smile to someone’s face.
Henry is survived by his children, Kerry, Melissa, and Christopher, his 12 grandchildren, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Alice Johnson, and his brother Scott Johnson. His sister, Mary “Dedee” Williams, passed away shortly after Henry.
