
Jacqueline Joyce Scanlon (Jackie), 88, of Heathrow, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021. She was born April 15,1933 in St. Joseph Missouri, daughter of late Crestal L and Lelah Hahn Carpenter. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1951.
Jacqueline married the love of her life, Edward Richard Scanlon (Bud) in 1955, and they lived together in Kansas City, Missouri most of their lives raising their family before retiring to Heathrow, Florida in 1998. Bud preceded her in death on November 5, 2011, after 57 beautiful years of marriage.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Paul G. Scanlon, and her sister Alice Campbell. Jacqueline is survived by her son Dr. Edward Kevin Scanlon (Jennifer), of Longwood, FL; grandchildren Emily (Marcus) Medal of Heathrow, FL, Jeffrey O'Connor of Longwood FL; and great grandson Noah Daniel of Heathrow, FL and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
First and foremost, Jackie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic. She lived everyday of her life with elegance and grace. She was an intellectual. She was a voracious reader who enjoyed history and poetry. Jacqueline was a member of the Heathrow Women's Club for years and championed many charitable causes. She gave of her time, skills, and experience with philanthropic endeavors to help create a better world. She was a formidable Bridge player, belonging to Bridge groups for many years throughout her life. She was a loyal friend to many. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
A private family Christian burial will be held with interment immediately following.
