

James Porter Vail, age 79 of Longwood, FL passed away on Friday January 25, 2019. James was born in Elmira, New York and attended Southside High School. He was preceded in death by his father, James D. Vail and his mother Beatrice Porter Vail. James grew up in Elmira and moved to Central Florida in 1970. He was a parishioner of Annunciation Catholic Church since 1984. He is survived by his loving partner, Janice Hornsey, of 35 years, his three daughters, Lisa Gentile (Michael) of Orlando, FL, Jennifer Mapp (Wyatt) of Chuluota, FL, Kristina Horanic (Dennis) of Sanford, FL and his son Steven Vail (Jessica) of Geneva, IL. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Jordan & Megan Gentile, Alexander & Andrew Mapp, Kaitlyn, Connor & Carter Horanic, and Henry Vail. Jim made his career owning and operating Pinch-A-Penny Pool Stores (Altamonte Springs & Deltona) for 40 years and the hard work Jim poured into his stores and his ethical values are evident in his success. Although he was a successful businessman, his greatest joy and legacy are his 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Jim loved a good joke, was an awesome story teller, had an infectious laugh and a great smile! Jim will be remembered for being a kind, loyal, and honest man; loved and respected by all who knew him. James Vail will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A visitation is scheduled from 9:15 A.M. - 9:45 A.M. on Friday February 1, 2019 at Annunciation Catholic Church, located at 1020 Montgomery Rd, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. The Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation at 10:00 A.M. A reception will follow mass at the Nazareth Room of Annunciation Catholic Church.
