Jean Fleischmann

Born in Wells, Minnesota on July 19, 1936, Jean was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Ruth Hassing. A woman of compassion, she graduated from Mankato State Teachers College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and began her career as a Registered Nurse. While she took great pride in her profession, she chose to leave nursing behind to dedicate her life to being a mother. She volunteered for many years in the school clinic and the library.

Jean’s family was very important to her. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Fleischmann Oyler, and son-in-law, Jason; and her son, Dana Fleischmann, and daughter-in-law, Corinna. She was the proud grandmother of Morganne Atkinson (Dalton), Brandon Oyler, Jacob Oyler, Alexander Oyler, Elizabeth Oyler, Josslyn Fleischmann, and Jayna Fleischmann; and the great-grandmother of Braden Atkinson.

Beyond her love of family, Jean enjoyed reading and following current events.She was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed cheering for Tampa Bay sports teams and the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears football team.

Jean was reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Ross Fleischmann. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jim Hassing; her twin sister Connie Rinehart and sister Jacqueline Gander; her sister-in-law, Joan Meagher; and her brother-in-laws, Hilary Rinehart and Norbert Yokiel. She is survived by her sister Janet Yokiel, sister-in-law Marie Hassing and brother-in-law Richard Gander, many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the many physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals and home health nurses who cared for her with such compassion over the years.

A funeral mass will be held at 10am on July 28, 2026 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tampa, FL. Attendees are asked to wear blue and green.
