

He was born in Port Tampa, Florida on March 4, 1931 to John Wright Salsbury and Edna Wales Salsbury. John Louis graduated Seminole High School in 1949 and joined the United States Air Force.
John Louis and wife, Yvonne Eubanks Salsbury along with their two children, daughter Gale S. Frana and son, Terry Salsbury traveled all over Europe and the United States while in the Air Force. John Louis retired after 20 years at the rank of Master Sergeant. He spent the next 20 years working for the US Postal Service.
John Louis had a passion for photography, fishing, and nature. He photographed every space shuttle launch as well as the shuttle landings at the Kennedy Space Center. One of his photos hangs in the Astronaut Museum and several astronauts have his photo of their launch hanging in their offices. Many of his photos were published in the Sanford Herald newspaper. He was a proud member of the Florida Aviation Historical Society. He fed his backyard critters all of his life and enjoyed watching their antics. He was most at home out in nature, with his camera or fishing equipment.
John Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne, his parents, John Wright and Edna Wales Salsbury, his brothers; Douglas Stenstrom, Herb Stenstrom, and Julian Stenstrom as well as his sister, Ruth Stenstrom Cjzaka.
He is survived by his daughter, Gale S. Frana and son, Terry W. Salsbury (Shelia), nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and his brother, Frank Stenstrom.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Florida Air Museum or the Florida Aviation Historical Society.
