

Karen Maloney Hoffheimer, 73, of Oviedo, Florida passed away on August 2nd, 2025. She was born March 13th, 1952, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, where she grew up and graduated high School in 1970. Karen earned a BA degree from Elmira College in Elmira, New York in 1974 and, in addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, pursued interests in education and philanthropy. Before meeting the love of her life, James Hoffheimer, Karen was a high school history teacher in Massachusetts. In the 1990s, she served as Director of Admissions, then Assistant Principal, at Hickory Day School in Hickory, North Carolina. In the mid-2000s, she was Secretary, then President, of Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn Memory and Wellness Center.
Karen will be remembered as a loving wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and an avid fan of both the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Karen was predeceased by her father, John Maloney; her mother, Marion Maloney; her brothers, Kevin, David, and Mark Maloney; and her beloved husband of 35 years, James Hoffheimer. Karen is survived by her daughters Kathleen Hoffheimer of Oviedo, Florida and Meagan Hoffheimer (Michael) Whitcomb and grandson Ezra James Whitcomb of Casselberry, Florida. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Martha Maloney and Linda Maloney; niece Erin Maloney; and nephews John, Aengus, and Ruari Maloney.

A funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon August 22nd at Saint Francis De Sales Parish Catholic Church, 1600 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, immediately followed by a graveside service at Jewish Cemeteries of Great Cincinnati – Walnut Hills, 3400 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. Limited parking is available behind the church, on Woodburn Avenue, or on-street. A family- and friends-only luncheon will follow.
