Larry William Roberts

Larry was born on September 11, 1943, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Berniece and George Roberts. He graduated from North Buncombe High School and then moved to his grandmother’s home in the Beaver Lake area to be closer to Asheville-Biltmore College, where he earned a business degree in 1965. During college, he worked for the Coca-Cola Company to help pay for his education.

After graduating, Larry moved to Florida, where he continued his studies and earned a Master’s Degree from Rollins College in Winter Park. He went on to work as a financial analyst for Martin Marietta and later for Siemens–Stromberg Carlson, retiring in 1999.

Larry had a deep love for boating and fishing with family and friends, always capturing special moments with his camera. He enjoyed tinkering with old lawn mowers and motors and had a passion for tractors, vintage cars, and old firearms. A fan of yard sales and flea markets, he was always on the lookout for a good bargain. Later in life, thanks to a close friend, he developed a keen interest in birding.

Larry never met a stranger. He made countless lasting friendships over the years and was always the first to offer help to others. A kind and gentle man, he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Above all, he was a devoted and loving father and "Grandpa."

Larry is survived by his brother Dale, his daughter Stephanie, his son Bryant, two stepdaughters: Danielle and Karla, and ten grandchildren: Jacob, Cory, Marah, Ryan, Lacy, Landon, Brooke, Jennifer, Jacob, and Ellen. He is also survived by his nephew, Jeff, who held a special place in his heart.

A visitation for Larry will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, Florida 32771. A committal service will occur Monday, July 7, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Oaklawn Park Cemetery, 4991 County Road 46A, Lake Mary, FL 32746.
