December 8, 1928April 20, 2021

Mrs. Navija Valladares, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the age of 92. She was an amazing entrepreneur and philanthropist, but the role she took most passionately was that of wife and mother.

Navija leaves behind 4 daughters, Dr. Navija Valladares-Mckinnon (Russ), Dr. Ivette Valladares-Barrios (Rene), Dr. Jeannette Valladares-Kwapich (Todd) and Dr. Blanca Valladares Nutter (Denver) and 7 grandchildren ; Roger Rene Barrios (Addison), Giovanna Barrios, Emely Rivero, Justin Kwapich (Emily) and Dylan Kwapich; a nephew, Dr. Tony Achkar (Venus) and a great nephew, Christopher Achkar. Navija was born in Camaguey, Cuba on December 8, 1928 and in 1948 married her forever love, Roger Valladares (1926-2003). When communism threatened their livelihood in 1960, they moved to Ohio where they would raise their daughters and proudly became US Citizens in 1965. They were Florida residents since 1984.

Navija was a woman of integrity, kindness, selflessness, unconditional love, generosity, encompassing femininity, intelligence, and hard work in her everyday life. Navija taught her daughters by example and always said “life is like a rose, sometimes to get to the petals, you have to go through some thorns” Never give up.

My deepest condolences for the family.
Few times in life you meet individuals that from day one come across as exceptional.
Your mother and father always made me feel that one was in the presence of special humans, their humanity always present.
May she RIP and the family find peace in her memories.

Dear Roger and Addison, and all the extended family of Navija,

Elizabeth and I send our deepest condolences on the occasion of the loss of your dear matriarch, Navija. To have gotten a glimpse of her and your extended family at the wedding of Roger and Addison, it leaves us with no doubt that she was every bit the force of nature and matriarch that will leave a wonderful and lasting memory for all of you. Too see her picture, it seems like only yesterday that we saw Navija, who has that strong look-you-in-the-eye power that makes a lasting impression. I know you will celebrate her good life and loving memory with gusto.

With love, Tom and Elizabeth Patton (Uncle and Aunt to Addison and Roger)
