

NORMAN A. HELFRICH, JR., M.D. of Sanford, FL passed away on January 27, 2017 at his home in Sanford. Dr. Norman Helfrich was born June 5, 1928 in San Diego CA to Norman A. Helfrich Sr. and Mary Baldwin Schefenacker. He graduated Georgetown University with his BS and MD degrees. He is a Pearl Harbor survivor and served as a MD in the US Navy during the Korean War. He went into private practice in Winter Park, FL in 1958 and served as District Director Cystic Fibrosis of Central Florida for 30 years. He was a pioneer in pulmonary pediatrics before there was such a specialty introducing new treatments that extended children’s lives into adulthood. Norman was married to Elizabeth Paulucci for 36 years sharing a passion of cooking and always open for taste testing many of the Paulucci food industry ventures. He carries several awards and diplomas from many cooking schools worldwide. His children David, Stephen, Mary Katherine and Mark Helfrich and companion Kamla Bent along with grandchildren survive Norman. Memorial Service A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at4:00pm at the First United Methodist Church. (419 S Park Ave, Sanford, FL 32771) Visitation A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel with a Graveside service to follow at Oaklawn Park Cemetery.
