Paul H. Shreve, age 94, passed away peacefully at home in Lake Mary, FL, on Sunday, December 6, 2015. We couldn't have asked for a better Dad - he taught us by example the values he believed: honesty, empathy, respect, generosity and the value of hard work. Growing up in the Depression taught him fundamental life lessons that became an integral part of his character and his soul. Paul was born in Alliance, Ohio, to A.J. and Irene (Unger) Shreve, the youngest of 2 children. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1941 to 1946. After working for several years in his father’s optical and jewelry store in Alliance, OH, and earning his gemologist degree, he moved his family to Largo, FL in 1957 to work for Honeywell. Paul married Marian Shadix of Atlanta, GA, on March 17, 1944, and fathered 6 children. They met and married while he was stationed at the Navy base in Atlanta. After her death, he met his current wife, Janet, at their church in Clearwater, FL. They were married September 25, 1999. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marian (Shadix) Shreve, his brother Al, 2 sons James and Thomas and 1 grandson Ted. Paul is survived by his wife Janet (Hubbard) Shreve, his sons Larry, Robert and Terry, his daughter Cathy, 1 granddaughter, 3 grandsons and 2 great-grandsons. He is also survived by 5 step-children (James Hubbard, Kathy Doutt, Nancy Sanchez, John Hubbard and Christie Hubbard), 14 step-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The Memorial Service will be held at Westview Baptist church in Lake Mary, FL, on Friday, December 18, 2015, at 11:00 AM. A Graveside Service will be held at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Safety Harbor, FL, on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
