

He was born in Marshall Michigan on October 10th 1932.
Richard graduated from Marshall High School and received a BSBA, Management from Western Michigan along with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Richard went on to have a career in Electrical Engineering and Management at Florida Power and Light Co.
In the spring of 1983 Richard and Charlotte Gauss met at Florida Power and Light where Charlotte was signing up for new service for her daughter and son-in-law. It was then that they connected, went on to date, and eventually marry on February 25th, 1984.
Richard was a proud member of the Lions Club. He was a passionate man with many talents including carpentry, biking, camping and travel. He could build anything. Richard designed and built their barn and fenced in their 36 acre land. An adventurous man, he loved to travel. They traveled all over America in their RV accompanied by their Rottweiler Heidi. They also had the chance to travel abroad exploring many countries such as China, Israel, Australia, and Russia. Richard was also a home group leader for over 20 years, he really loved and enjoyed the people in their group.
He loved his children and children-in-law deeply. He was an extremely loving and devoted husband for their 38 years of marriage.
Richard is survived by his wife Charlotte Gauss and children Richard Gauss Jr. (Terry Gauss), Jobee Gauss OHara(Donald OHara), Thomas Gauss(Melissa Gauss), Debbie Yero (Efren Yero), Linda Welker (Jeff Welker), Cindy McDaniel (Peter McDaniel), Michael Whelchel (Judith Whelchel), his grandchildren Samantha OHara-Read, Ryan OHara, Lacey Gauss, Wooddy Gauss, and Tiffany Gauss Decker, Lauren Yero, Phillip Yero, Emily Yero, Ashlynn Welker, Kaliegh Seidel, Michael Mc Daniel, Ivy McDaniel, Sophie Whelchel, Isabel Whelchel, Mei Whelchel and Bin Whelchel.
A celebration of life for Richard will be held on February 26th, 2022 at 11 AM at 5724 Terra Bona Court Sanford, FL 32771. He will be greatly missed
