He was born on February 11, 1929, to Viola and August Weydener in Farmingdale, New York. He was predeceased by his parents and his three brothers.
Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he met the love of his life, Marilyn. They shared 72 wonderful years of marriage. The couple settled in Oakdale on Long Island, where they raised their two daughters. Summers were often spent camping at Montauk Point and boating on the Great South Bay in the various boats Robert loved, creating cherished memories that became a highlight of the family’s life together. In 1974, Robert and his family moved to Florida for the love of Florida weather and settled in Longwood.
He began working at a young age as a mechanic with the Long Island Park Commission, where he developed the hands-on skills and strong work ethic that would define his life. He later went on to serve as a New York State inspector, continuing to build a career grounded in diligence and integrity. After relocating to Florida, he took a position as a purchaser with Seminole County. He later joined Darden Restaurants as a purchaser, where he was known for his reliability and attention to detail. After retiring from Darden, he thoroughly enjoyed serving as a school crossing guard for many years, a role that reflected his caring nature and dedication to his community. He ultimately retired after a long and fulfilling career, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
Robert was also a proud member of the Masonic fraternity and a 32° Mason, reflecting his deep commitment to the principles of brotherhood, charity, and truth.
Robert had a deep passion for working with his hands. He loved assembling car models and restoring vintage vehicles, bringing new life to old classics with patience and skill. There was seemingly nothing he couldn’t fix or build, and he took great pride in helping others with his talents.
He had an amazing and quirky sense of humor, never met a stranger, and was loved by many. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his generosity, and the unwavering love he had for his family. His presence, guidance, and steady hands will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Linda Harrelson and Susan Wiseman (Steve); grandchildren, Jessica Bartlinski, Jared Bartlinski (Kelly), Lindsay (Daniel), and Ryan Wiseman; and great-grandchildren, Paisley Bartlinski, Brielle Bartlinski, Boone and Lacey Berry.
