

Roger B. Coleman, 79, of Sanford, Florida passed away February 25, 2023, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Roger was born in Samson, Alabama on February 14, 1944 to William Augustus Coleman and Etta Riley Coleman. Roger was the youngest of six children.
Roger graduated from Samson High School in 1962 and received his degree in Accounting from The University of Alabama in 1966. While attending college, Roger participated in ROTC and the UA Million Dollar Band. Roger was also a member of Phi Sigma Kappa. After graduation, he served as Finance Officer in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam from 1966-1968.
He met is wife, Karen Gail Whigham, the love of his life in 1964. They were married on November 25, 1966. Their daughter, Sherrie, was born in 1968; and their son Roger Jr. (Barry) was born in 1973.
Roger worked as a CPA for several firms in Alabama and Florida. He retired from Randolph, Swain, Tallent & Whitehead in 2017. His career as a CPA spanned more than 45 years.
During his life, Roger’s passions were family, music, and fishing. Family fishing trips to Chokoloskee were treasured times. Roger loved music from the 1950’s and 1960’s. As a singer in a performing quartet, Roger actually met Karen when the group was looking for a pianist.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Karen, and all his siblings who included William “Billy” A. Coleman, Jr., Mary “Tis” Clayton White (Claude), Nan Walding (Dan), Joann Jefferson (Charles), and Ronald “Ronnie” Z. Coleman.
Roger is survived by his children, Sherrie L. Stuart (Craig), and Roger Barry Coleman, Jr. (Lynn). He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Casey (Faith) Stuart, Allyson Stuart, Kolby Coleman, and Abigail Coleman. Roger also had a number of brothers/sisters in law from the Whigham family including Buck (Fran) Whigham, Frank (Beth) Whigham, Becky (David) Smith, John (Kit) Whigham, and Mark (Claudia) Whigham.
A service will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home & Oaklawn Cemetery, Sanford, Florida on Sunday, March, 5 2023 at 2:00 pm with visitation starting at 1:00 pm.
