On Sunday, October 25, 2020, Steven Lawrence Rubio, adored husband, father, son, and brother, passed away in Orlando, Florida after a hard-fought battle with COVID-19 at the age of 37. Steven was a New York native, born on April 15, 1983, to Jovan and Jose N. Rubio. While he was a kid, Steven and his family moved to South Florida. He attended Homestead Senior High School, where he met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lesley Rubio. Steven married Lesley on November 27, 2002, and they moved to Orlando, Florida. Together they built a life they loved while raising their four sons, Sean, Michael, Jayden, and William.
Steven took great pride in giving his family his all. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a family man. Steven loved being a husband and a dad. He was a considerate and loving husband who always found ways to make his wife feel special, as well as a supportive, attentive, and compassionate dad who would do anything to make his sons laugh.
The same charismatic demeanor and genuine spirit that made Steven a beloved figure to his friends and family also helped him build a thriving career in sales. Steven was an incredibly ambitious, talented, and hardworking man. In his early twenties, Steven began his career selling cars. He later transitioned to selling insurance products and was a valued member of his team at Liberty Mutual. Throughout his life, Steven consistently demonstrated a drive to succeed that was unmatched.
Steven’s other love was music. When he was not working, or spending time with family, Steven was in the studio. Since he was a teenager, Steven spent countless hours in the music studio, where many of his friends knew him as Figaro (Fig). He had a passion for creating music, as well as spotting and building talent.
To know Steven was to know someone who was generous and pure of heart. Steven emanated goodness. His positive outlook, playful smile, and endless jokes made it impossible to be around him without laughing. He will be missed terribly by all who knew him.
Steven is survived by his wife, Lesley Rubio, and their four sons, Sean, Michael, Jayden, and William. He also leaves his parents, Jovan Rubio and Jose N. Rubio; his siblings, Jose (Anthony) Rubio, Jon-Paul Dominguez and Jasmine Rubio; and many close family and friends.
