

Bill grew up in a Navy family, and eventually, he settled in Sanford when his father was stationed at the Naval Air Station Sanford. As the oldest of five siblings, Bill loved his childhood and helped his mother take care of the house when his father was on many tours. Bill followed in his father’s military footsteps and joined the United States Air Force in August 1961.He served three years and was honorably discharged. After serving his country, Bill continued to serve his community. In 1967, he joined the Sanford Police Department. He protected the streets for 11 years and made it to the rank of sergeant. After police work, he worked in the automotive industry until 2005. In retirement, he enjoyed bringing lunch to his wife and all the ladies at Lake Mary City Hall, eating out at various local restaurants, visiting Timucuan Publix every day, spending time with his beloved wife and dog, and visiting family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carol; his brother, John Foster (Sharon); three sisters, Barbara Crockett (Tom); Janet Foster; Debra Edge (Roger); two sons, Randy Foster; Jeff Spotts (Layne); three daughters, Liz Foster; Heather Sharp Raulerson (John); Kelly Foster Harley; and seven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m.
