In a poignant twist of fate, Bill departed this world on the same day his beloved son, Bryan, passed 21 years prior. They are now reunited in everlasting peace.
Bill was born on August 14, 1957, in Babylon, NY, to Charles Carl Jomisko and Ruth Hestad Jomisko. He grew up in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, where he graduated from Comsewogue High School. It was there he met his high school sweetheart, Diane Michlik. The two began their lifelong journey together on March 7, 1973, later marrying and moving to Florida to build a life and family together. Bill and Diane were devoted to one another for 47 wonderful years.
A talented craftsman with a gift for fixing and building, Bill was always eager to lend a hand to family and friends. Most recently, he and Diane completed renovations on their home in DeBary, FL, while also helping their daughter, Heather, and son-in-law, Bret, on their guest property next door. He loved time spent on the porch with loved ones, catching up on the news, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs with Bret, and enjoying classic movies and old car shows. Bill also had a great appreciation for travel, often venturing to new places with his sister-in-law Laura Michlik Thornton and her husband, Joseph, as well as his brother-in-law William "Bill" Michlik and his wife, Claudine, particularly to the Great Smoky Mountains. And, of course, he never turned down the simple joy of a cold beer shared with good company.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son Bryan Jomisko (April 10, 1979 – March 7, 2004), and his brother Robert Jomisko. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, carried on by those who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Michlik Jomisko; his daughter, Heather Jomisko, and son-in-law, Bret Dubbert; and his three cherished granddaughters, Shayla, Keira, and Norah, in whom his nurturing spirit will live on. He is also survived by his brothers Kenneth Jomisko (Mary) and Thomas Jomisko (Ellen); his sister, Linda Jomisko McClure (Daniel); and his brothers-in-law and lifelong friends William "Bill" Michlik (Claudine) and George Michlik (Dee). His sister-in-law Laura Thornton (Joseph) and many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews will also carry his memory forward. Bill’s close friends, including Mary Traylor, Elizabeth Traylor Smith (Ryne), Chaz Yonn, Jan Schlichting, and Thomas Olsen, were like family to him and will deeply miss his presence.
Bill’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. As we grieve his loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived—one filled with love, laughter, and treasured moments.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, FL 32771. A Funeral Service will follow from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, with a Reception from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
Bill’s kindness and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to one of the four organizations linked below.
