Willie is my brother in-law......he’s the kind of guy that you would want your sisters, daughters or female cousins to marry because he’s just a great all around guy. I was truly blessed to know that he married my sister Kimberly Person-Harris, Willie would call me in the middle of the night 2,3,4am just to say hi and ask about my wife and kids. Our conversations were priceless and I cherish each and everyone of them, I Love You....My Brother In-Law!!!

Biography

Willie Joe Harris was born in Orlando, Orange County, Florida to the late Reverend Myles L. and Josie Harris on March 15, 1968.

Willie J. grew up with musical influences all around him. His father was a member of a Gospel quartet group called Angels of Joy. His mother was a local DJ and one of the founding members of the Florida Mass Choirs.

As a child, Willie never showed much interest in sports. Instead, while all the other kids were outside playing, Willie would be inside listening to artists like Marvin Gay, Barry White, and Al Green. This enabled him to become a self taught singer and eventually would become a self taught pianist.

Willie began singing when he was five years old. From that time, he knew whatever he was going to do in his adult life would revolve around music. In grade school he started to experiment by writing songs. Willie desired to do everything from writing, producing, and arranging, to engineering.

During his early teenage years, Willie began performing regularly in local talent shows and singing at various church functions. As a result, he became well known in his community for his talent and love for music. In his later teenage years, he became a member of three bands in which he performed as a soloist and an instrumentalist.

New things came into focus for Willie when he met and married his beloved Kimberly Person Harris on August 16, 1997...and, Willie's career goals changed. His growing love for God directed him to give his life to following Christ and caring for his family. He was baptized in the Autumn of 1998. Throughout his Christian walk, Willie used his talents in the Music, Communication, and Sabbath School Departments (Mt. Sinai and Mars Hill inclusive). He also assisted with the Mars Hill Radio Broadcast by editing and transporting the sermon to the radio station. Willie influenced many people with his heart, his talent, and his humor. He will be greatly missed.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Myles L. Harris & Josie Harris; and, by his brothers, Mark I. Harris and Myles I. Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving & devoted wife, Kimberly Person Harris; children, Willie J. Harris, Jr. and Kiersten Harris; stepmother, JoAnn Hernandez; brothers, Eric Harris and Darren C. Thompson; mother-in-law, Deloris McClatchey; sister-in-law, Gavianna Washington; brother-in-law, Archie Person III (Demetrius); and, a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and loving relatives & friends.
