Alma Tinoco was Born September 9, 1932, in Orange California to parents Victoria Edith and Manuel Pedroza. She grew up in Atwood CA until the massive flooding in 1938 that forced her family to relocate to El Modena. Her family consisted of her parents and was surrounded by her 12 siblings.
At the age of 23 she married her forever love Robert H Tinoco in 1956. Robert and Alma raised 5 sons Robert, Richard, Rey, Raul and Ronald, building a home filled with love and family. After celebrating their 55th anniversary Bob went home with our Lord to watch over us, joining sons Raully and Ronnie.
For many years Alma worked as a head cook for the Orange Unified School District where her love for cooking flourished and she built many cherished friendships and connections that lasted throughout her life.
Alma who we also called “Big Al” remained our glue and family cornerstone. A woman who lived by loving generously and supporting everyone she me. She loved fiercely her sons, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren that all knew her love and devotion. She shared her joy by crocheting blankets and filling your belly with her delicious cooking.
Whether you were visiting for a celebration or a holiday, her kitchen was the center of her home. Always filled with food and the smell of something sweet baking. Every year you could count on her rallying the family together to make her infamous tamales.
Alma lived life to the fullest and loved the Lord. Whether she was cracking jokes, lending you an ear, or sharing her wisdom and stories. She also loved heading out on adventures to any casino trying her luck and keeping you on your toes. Because if you weren’t watching closely she would sneak away to the next hot slot machine without a word.
Living her lift as she did for 93 years, she made her imprint on all who crossed her path. She is a gift and treasure that will always be with us in our hearts.
