Arata was born on September 4th, 2000, in the City of Yaita of Tochigi prefecture in Japan. When Arata was 4 years old, he moved to Irvine, California with his parents and brothers and lived there until he moved to the city of Lake Forest in the summer of 2009.
Arata was a senior at El Toro High School in Lake Forest. He loved playing video games with his friends, especially Smash Brothers Melee. Arata participated in some local video game tournaments and had dreams of becoming a professional gamer. He spent time practicing almost every single day.
Arata was known as a strong kenshi, a swordsman. He started practicing kendo, the Japanese martial arts, in Butokuden Kendo Dojo when he was 6 years old. Since the beginning of his kendo practice, Arata participated in numerous tournaments and had won most of them. He was a US national kendo champion in his age group for three consecutive years starting from 2010 until 2012. Arata also represented the United States as the captain of the US Junior National Kendo Team and fought in the All Japan Dojo Junior Kendo Tournament in 2016. He was kendo 2-dan, 2nd degree black belt in kendo.
Arata is survived by his father, Yasuyuki; mother, Hiromi; three older brothers, Hiroyuki, Masaki, and Ryo; grandmother and aunt, Yoshiko Ino and Yumiko Fukuma; aunt, Toshimi Hiroi; uncle, Ichiro Ino; and cousin, Yuta Ino.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather and uncle, Hajime Ino and Nobuo Fukuma
