This was a moment when my grandpa was teaching me not to take pills or anything that looks like candy if someone offers it to me. 

We had many moments that weren’t captured in photos, but they’re definitely in my mind and heart.

Esta foto la tome, en frente de la liquor donde trabajaba Mando, el Viernes, 1ro de Junio, 2018.  Ese es el dia de cumpleaños de Yeyo.  Quien se iba a imaginar que exactamente 7 años después alguien le quitaria la vida a nuestro querido Mando.  Descansa en Paz Eterna.

Primos y hermanos que se querian mucho. Yeyo iba a buscar a Mando segido, en esa esquina donde trabajaba y pasaba el tiempo y donde paso el último día de su vida.

You left behind so many unforgettable memories, especially from my childhood. You always made me fresh fruit, soups, and homemade French fries, and we would go to the store just to grab some snacks. One scary memory I’ll never forget was when I dropped Jesse as a baby I  was so afraid, but you didn’t yell at me. Instead, you calmly said, ‘It’s okay, he’s okay,’ and continued cooking. You never yelled at me; you just let me be a free child. Our regular routine going to Ranch Market, then to Centennial Park where you’d lie under a tree reading your newspaper and drinking a fresh beer while I played , will always stay in my heart. So much more however I don’t want to write a book here the rest will stay in my heart and memories. Just want to share to  the world  a moment of memory 🤍

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.

I miss you, Apa. I’m praying for your spirit to be at rest, at peace, and with the Lord. I’m also praying that our Lord gives us comfort and guidance through everything.

John 14:1–3:
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be where I am.

Luke 23:43:
Truly, I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.
This verse reminds us of the hope and promise of being with Jesus in the afterlife.

Gramps, losing you feels like losing a part of who I am. You weren’t just my grandfather — you were the heart of our family, the one who showed us what true love, strength, and sacrifice looked like. I’ll never forget how you’d load me and Ayden up in your old Jeep, the seats worn but full of stories, and you would  take us to McDonald’s — just to see us smile while we ate our food in the backseat seat. Or how you’d drive us to Centennial park, letting us splash at the lake and laugh under the sun while you sat nearby, always watching, always protecting. Those moments felt like magic because you were there.

In the backyard, when we built teepees together, it wasn’t just sticks and blankets — it was you giving us adventure, imagination, and love. You were the kind of man who worked hard every day, but never too hard to say yes to time with his grandkids. You always made sure we had what we needed — shoes on our feet, clothes on our backs — even if it meant going without yourself. You gave everything without ever asking for anything in return.

I will forever cherish those memories, Gramps - not just because they were fun, but because they were filled with your love. Your caring spirit, your strong hands, your big heart… they made us feel safe and special. I miss you more than words can say, and I’ll carry your love with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for being our everything.

Gramps, or as I always felt in my heart—mi azúcar—you were the sweetest part of my world. Losing you feels like losing a piece of my soul, because you weren’t just my grandfather… you were my pure and joy, my softness, my steady place in a spinning world. You always had a way of making things better, whether it was your warm hugs that melted all my worries, or your little jokes that made me laugh . One of my favorite memories the one I’ll treasure forever is the treehouse you built with your own hands. It wasn’t just wood and nails; it was our secret kingdom. Me, you, and Googies would spend hours up there, telling stories, watching the clouds drift by, and just being together. That treehouse held so much love, so much laughter, and the kind of peace only you could create. You always looked at us like we were your entire world, and you made us feel like the luckiest kids alive. I’ll never forget the way your eyes lit up when you saw your grandkids or how safe we felt when we where near you. “Mi azúcar,” you gave me so much love, so much warmth, and so many memories I’ll carry for the rest of my life. It hurts not having you here, but I know you’re watching from above, probably smiling that same proud smile. I love you endlessly, Gramps. Until we meet again, I’ll hold onto the memories  and I’ll carry your love in everything I do. Sincerely your granddaughter 🤍

Grandpa "it's my birthday" every day we would say that to each other it was our thing to get me free drinks lol. Also, you said that " we had to live each day like if it was our last". We miss you dearly you made an impact in our lives 🙏

Thank you, Tio Mando, for always welcoming us into your home growing up. The weekends spent at your house gave me the chance to spend time with Desaray (your Piedrita) and make memories; like getting La Gigante from Pizza Loca (which, for a kid, was the biggest pizza ever), playing in your backyard, and hanging out in Desaray’s room. You were always so sweet to us and had a beautiful, bright smile.

Thank you for being my dad’s best friend; you were like a brother to him. I know he will miss you tremendously, and I know he will always look after your family. We all love you, and you will always be missed.
