Brenda Lynn Cox

Brenda Lynn Fried Cox, 81, passed away peacefully at home in Westminster, California, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Born on February 21, 1945, in Quantico, Virginia, to Wallace and Gladys Fried, Brenda was known throughout her life for her kindness, and the passion she brought to everything and everyone she loved.

Brenda was a nurse for 50 years, devoting 25 years to pediatric dialysis at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and 25 years to community health work for QueensCare Health & Faith Partnership in Hollywood. Her career was a natural extension of who she was, smart and capable in her work, but never without warmth and love. She cared for her patients, especially children and people experiencing homelessness, with a gentleness and compassion that made a lasting impression on everyone she treated. Her work was more than a career; it was a reflection of the kind of person she was.

On February 25, 1978, Brenda married the love of her life, Stanley C. Cox. Together, they built a family grounded in faith and love. Brenda loved the Lord deeply, and she poured that same passionate devotion into her friends and family, whom she cherished above all else.

Above all, Brenda was devoted to her family. She treasured her children, grandchildren, sisters, and the many people she considered family along the way. She had a way of making the people she loved feel that they mattered. Her warmth, strength, intelligence, and passion were a part of everything she did, and those who knew her will remember the lasting impression she made simply by being herself.

Brenda is survived by her children, son, John Cox, his wife, and children, daughter, Christine Cox, and grandson Jacob; and her sisters, Barbara Martinez and Bonnie Brandt.

Brenda’s love extended far beyond her immediate family. She cherished her nieces and nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends, many of whom held a special place in her heart and will deeply miss her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley C. Cox, and her parents, Wallace and Gladys Fried.

Brenda will be remembered as a kind, loving, brilliant, and passionate woman whose legacy lives on in everyone she touched. Her greatest legacy is found not only in the work she devoted her life to, but in the people she loved, the lives she touched, and the countless moments of kindness and compassion she gave so freely.

Though she is no longer here to hold, hear, or laugh with, the love Brenda gave remains. It lives on in her children and grandchildren, her sisters, her nieces and nephews, her extended family and friends, and in the countless people whose lives were better because they knew her.

Her life was a gift, her love was a blessing, and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
