Surrounded by her family, Carmen Flores passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born on January 5, 1939 in Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico to parents Margarita Gomez and Pedro Vega.
On October 30, 1959, she married the love of her life Mario M. Flores. They started a family in 1960 and lived in modest homes in Santa Ana and Orange, Calif. Carmen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family. Carmen was a kind, caring person who was the glue that held the family together. She was business smart and ran a tight household. She loved to travel, fish and hunt with family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, and gambling. While fishing on a trip with her husband in Acapulco, both caught big game Marlins, but hers was the biggest catch of the day. She had her Marlin shipped home where it is proudly displayed at the Utah home to this day. Carmen entered a cooking contest in the OC register newspaper on how to make Chile Colorado and won the first prize of $1,000 for the Best Chile. Around 1993, retirement came and the family moved to Toquerville, Utah. There they continued the joys of a quiet life. Carmen and Mario were married for 52 blessed years.
Carmen is survived by her children Sandra, Mario, David, Richard, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As well her brothers Rafael, Arturo, Roberto, many nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service for Carmen will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, California 92705.
There will be a Luncheon following services at Casa Bella Center in Anaheim, 20 S. Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim, CA 92805 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
