The youngest of three children Carol was musically and artistically inclined from a young age having been chosen by MGM as a semi-finalist to be Shirley Temple’s double in 1936. Fortunately for those of us lucky enough to enjoy her talents over the years her parents decided Hollywood was not best for young Carol and the family. She continued her performance career as a child in a number of plays and local events including performing at the 5th annual Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach in the summer of ‘36.
As life progressed Carol continued to play the piano and sing in her church choir concluding with St. John’s Lutheran in Orange at the age of 85. Married in 1956 to longtime surfside resident Charles Warner, the couple had one child, Jay, and lived the majority of their lives in their home in Santa Ana. During those years Carol worked a number of years for the Gas Company and Chapman University eventually retiring from Chapman after 27 years in the registrar’s office. Following retirement and with energy to burn she took on a variety of volunteer roles including spending countless days and hours at the Lutheran High Thrift Store.
An avid reader and extremely outgoing person this helped fill a void, and more than a few bookshelves, up until a broken hip slowed her down in 2017. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Charles and both of her siblings Orville and Viola. Left to honor Carol and her legacy is her son, his wife Rebecca, Viola’s sons - Dana and Pat, and countless members of her extended family. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1st at 12:00 noon at Waverly Chapel, 1702 Fairhaven Ave, Santa Ana. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in Carol’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
A reception at Waverley Gallery will occur Friday, February 1, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.fairhavenmemorial.com for the Warner family.
