Catherine Elizabeth (Betty) Adams was born in Toronto, Canada on July 18, 1925, to Walter Adams and Ida Mabel Clarke. She was baptized in the Blessed Sacrament Church in Toronto, and lived with her parents and three brothers in a modest home in East Toronto. She had fond memories of visiting her grandparents in Napanee, Ontario, and spending summers on the family farm and Adams Lake in Burgess Township, Ontario.
Betty met Jim McGirr at a Masonic Lodge dance in Toronto, and they were soon inseparable. After a long car ride from Toronto to Los Angeles, Betty and Jim were married in a private home in Burbank on November 24, 1948. The following day, they would celebrate their first "American" Thanksgiving together.
Betty was a brilliant bookkeeper, and worked full time while she and Jim raised their two sons, Wayne and Brad. The family settled down in Anaheim, where Betty remained active in her sons' school activities. Betty loved to play the organ, sew, and dance. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, and would do anything for her children and grandchildren.
Betty passed away on what would have been her eldest son's birthday, December 13, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, James, and her son, Wayne. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Brad, her daughters in law, Marlene and Julie, her grandchildren, Cathy, Carrie, Morgan, Christian and Brady, her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Colson and Lanie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
