Charles and Doreen came to NC for everyone of my daughters (their granddaughters) weddings.  Charles was only my father in Law for a short time, by no fault of his.  He remained in touch, called me every year on my birthday.  He was a great father in law and he loved us and we loved him from across the country!   Charles we shared a birthday month and you and Doreen were the Best!  I will miss my birthday calls!  You were a friend to my parents and you were loved by  all!  I know you’re in heaven with Jesus and we will see you again!

My deepest sympathy to all of the family.  I’ve been the next door neighbor to Charlie for over 25 years!  He was a wonderful, kind neighbor and I enjoyed chatting with him many, many times. I was always amazed by his work ethic at home, in his yard and professionally.  He was very liked in our neighborhood and will be missed!❤️🙏🌺

I met Charlie when I first started working at Dland and was fortunate  to have him expertly and patiently "show me the ropes."  Always a gentleman, professional and a joy to know.  I offer my sincere condolences to his family.  I am moved to recollect the time of my own beloved father's passing.  If it helps, I share a true story.  Papa knew he only had days to live and entrusted me to  help him process three properties that he put in my name to then be signed back into my mother's name at the time/date as his lawyer designated.   I assured my father I would do exactly as he wished and he knew he did not have to doubt it.  Once someone/father would die for you, the rest is easy.  Honor is how we show love and    I expect Charlie had to be one of the best a father could be.  To his family I say you were so fortunate to have him and I expect his sense of honor is well-represented in you.  G-d Bless.

Charles wasn’t just my stepdad—he was a steady, gentle presence in our lives. A man of faith and quiet strength, he loved with intention and gave from a heart that never asked for anything in return. He stepped into our lives with open arms, and in doing so, became so much more than we ever knew we needed.

To my children, he was Grandpa. And later, Great-Grandpa. He filled those roles with love, pride, and quiet joy. Through simple moments, laughter, and wisdom, he showed us what unconditional love looks like across generations.

He was the kind of man who showed up before you asked. Whether it was car problems, a hard day, or something deeper, Charles was there—ready to help, without hesitation or fanfare. He cared in ways that made a lasting difference.

And oh, the stories. Charles had one for everything. He turned ordinary moments into unforgettable tales. His voice carried warmth and humor, and his stories made you feel like you were part of something bigger.

He never met a stranger. Wherever he went, he found connection—through kindness, a joke, or simply listening. People were drawn to him because he made them feel like they mattered.

Charles didn’t just talk about his faith—he lived it. You saw it in his humility, his service, and the way he made others feel safe and seen. His love was steady and real—something you could count on.

And every conversation, no matter how short or long, always ended the same way:
“Love ya now.”

That was Charles. Always leaving you with love, always making sure you knew it.

We’ll carry his memory in how we serve, how we love, and how we tell stories that bring life to the past. And in how we say, “Love ya now,” and mean it—just like he did.

I loved him so very much. We still talked after Jerry Don passed. He still said he was mine too! That meant the world to me! Uncle Charles was a kind loving man. I loved listening to any life story he would tell. You will be missed!!!

King Charles, you will be missed, Il alway remember our day together on Apple Hill, at the Chapel and along the river. And you what I'm talking about. A man of Honor and a Heart of gold. I saw right through you!

Charles and I grew up together at Mt Salem community near Mt Magazine.  We attended Sunday School and Church  and many community events together  Charles and I have been life long friends, whom I respected and cared for. Sending my love and prayers to his family. ❤️🙏

Uncle Charles was so loved and will be greatly missed! I'm so glad my son was able to meet his Great-Great Uncle Charles! His stories about his life experiences will live forever!
