Daniel Milan Profant was born in Lorain, Ohio on May 23, 1937, to Mary (Listiak) Profant and Daniel Profant. His parents were both from Vazec, Czechoslovakia. He was very proud of his heritage and would tell you all about how his parents both immigrated to the US (his father at 4 yrs old and his mother at 9 yrs old) and met up with and later married in Lorain, Ohio. Dan had one sister, Joan Marie Hawley, who passed in 2024, but they grew up around many cousins on both his mother’s and father’s side of the family.
Dan’s family moved to California in the 1950’s. He graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1955 and attended Santa Ana College, where he was very proud to say he played college baseball. Dan went on to receive a BS from Long Beach State College in 1961, where he majored in Mathematics. This degree led him into becoming a pioneer in the early days of computer programming. He worked for the Naval Base at Point Mugu, and for several computer companies including Control Data.
While attending college, he worked part-time at Knott’s Berry Farm, where he met and later married Caryl Albright. Together they had a son, Daniel James Profant, and a daughter, Jacquelyn Dee Brennan.
In 1989, Dan married Victoria Chairez and together they built a life around their families. Together they enjoyed traveling around the US and Europe. They cruised the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Mississippi River and the Mexican Riviera. For Vicki, they traveled to 19 of the 30 Major League Baseball Stadiums and visited 40 US States.
Dan is survived by his wife, Vicki; his son and daughter, Danny & Jacqui; his son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Mike and Michelle; his grandchildren, Michael Daniel Brennan, Daniel Milan Stone-Profant, Jordynn Ann Rice (married to CD), Devynn Grey Morris (married to Brandon) and Keira Rain Brennan; and great granddaughter, Lennon Rae Morris.
Dan leaves so many loved ones, including Sister & Brother -in-laws who blessed him with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends – all of whom he dearly loved.
Dan loved so many things including reading, classical music, astronomy and having a good time! He could be the life of the party, and he lived life to the fullest! He will truly be missed…rest with the angels in heaven, Dan.
