David H. Beck
November 19, 1926 – May 9, 2019
David H. Beck, loving Husband and Father, passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Dave was born in Orange, CA on November 19, 1926. He attended Orange High School. Dave left to join the US Navy where he served during WWII, later completing his education at Santa Ana College.
Following his military service Dave returned home and married his sweetheart, Dorothy Lou Kimball. He and Dot built a home in Garden Grove, CA, where he resided most of his life.
Dave joined the US Postal Service in 1949. His career spanned 38 years, beginning as a clerk in Santa Ana and retiring as Postmaster of Los Alamitos, CA.
He was a Deacon at Garden Grove Community Church. Dave was active in the Garden Grove Elks Lodge, where he was particularly known for his skills at darts, pool, and cards. He was an avid golfer, scoring the elusive Hole-In-One. He owned boats and loved fishing on the ocean. Dave and Dot raised five children: Nita Herrick, Shelley Weir, Cathy Schuerman, Paul Beck, and Janet Ward.
They were blessed with ten Grandchildren: Keri (Weir) Kiss, Becke Ward, Nathan Ward, Emily Ward, Jennifer (McDougall) Hawkins, Cayla (Stevens) Rhea, Natasha Princeler, Christian Princeler, Paul Beck Jr., and Haley Beck. They also have eighteen Great-Grandchildren.
After Dot’s passing in 2007, Dave found new happiness with Norma J. Beck, the surviving wife of his Brother Bill Beck. They were married in 2009 and Norma survives him.
A Memorial service honoring David’s life will be held on Monday, May 13th at 11am at Fairhaven chapel.
