

He is survived by his son, Derek Stacy Haskayne (his grandson, Braydon Stacy Haskayne) and his daughter, Barbara Ann Haskayne and her husband, Bradley Gene Pridemore. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Cecily Haskayne.
Derek was born in Maghull, England on 10/03/1933. After high school he achieved some secondary schooling in carpentry, then enlisted into the British Army where he served for 2 years. Soon after he immigrated to Canada, he met Sarah, who became his wife. Soon after the relocated to Southern California in 1962. Derek then became a contractor and a master carpenter, managing a successful construction business for over 50 years. He and his wife Sarah were pivotal in creating a thriving equestrian community in Orange Park Acres. In his later years, he spent much of his time in Utah, visiting his daughter and son-in-law and his new found Utah family. Derek was a man that engendered admiration from all who knew him, and those who either worked with him or for him. Now for the last time, as Derek was fond of saying, “Home James, and don’t spare the horses.”
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation at wish.org/donate in memory of Derek Haskayne.
