Dezmond loved football. He ate, slept and breathed football. He would get so angry if he had to leave the field for any reason. He gave 1000% until the clock ran out.

My condolences to all the family and loved ones of Dezmond. I had the privilege to coach Dezmond in the Summer of 2008 in Tustin AYSO. He was small, at the time, but with the biggest heart. He never backed down from a challenge for the ball and never questioned me on his assignments.

Dez, you are playing Midfield this quarter...... yes coach.

Dez, you are playing defense.......... yes coach.

Dezmond was a great kid and it was a privilege to have coached him and know him.

Peace and love to my #4

Dezmond was a very special young man. Although our hearts are heavy, it’s hard not to smile when thinking about this charismatic, respectful, bright light. This photo was taken at a Tustin Cobra football banquet when the boys were ten. From a young age, Dezmond was an exceptional athlete and a considerate and encouraging teammate. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Our love and prayers go out to the Hodges family.

This picture of Dezmond with my son, Timothy #58, and my parents is one of my favorite all time pictures. I especially love this picture of Dezmond because it shows his wonderful sense of humor and great kindness to everyone. Dezmond was an extraordinary young man.
