Donald Vincent Dunn, age 88, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2021 at Capriana Senior Living Center in Brea, California.

He is survived by 3 children, Jeffrey Dunn, Jennifer Crooks, and Jonathan Dunn. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and family members and friends.

He was born August 31, 1932 to Daniel Vincent Dunn and Helen Louise Schroeder and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating from East High School he served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War.

Donald married Rachelle Rosenthal on June 1, 1956 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. After finishing his tour in the Navy, he completed his education at the University of Utah.

He and Rachelle had their first 2 children while in college and then made their way to Southern California following graduation. They purchased their first home in the city of Orange where their 3rd child was born.

The family later moved to Anaheim where Donald and Rachelle both lived together until Rachelle’s passing in 2006.

Donald worked for the County of Orange for 32 years in the Department of Health and Welfare as an analyst. He was actively involved in raising his family and serving in his church.

He and Rachelle were enthusiastic travelers with adventures throughout Europe, Asia, and trips visiting grandchildren all over the U.S. He especially loved vacationing in San Diego and Hawaii where he had lived for many years as a young man in the Navy.

Donald loved watching sports, especially football, and enjoyed skiing, fishing, and was an avid bike rider at Huntington Beach and on the Santa Ana River Trail.

A graveside service will be held for family and close friends at Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary.
