Donovan Duane Huennekens passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born on November 5, 1936 in Wynot, Nebraska to Laurence and Alice (Schaller) Huennekens. Don was one of five boys.
While in high school in Iowa, he met Judy Bride and they were married on September 2, 1956. Shortly after their wedding they moved to California and have lived there ever since. Don is survived by his wife, Judy and their four children; Duane (Janis), Kerri (Ernie), Doug (Serina) and Katie (Dave), 10 grandchildren, six great grandsons and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lowell and Dick.
Don was a real estate developer for more than fifty years as president of the Lusk Company and a partner in HQT Homes serving the Southern California area. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed spending much time with his family.
Services and celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 11:00 am at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana. Lunch will be served after the service.
