Born in Washington, DC in 1933 during The Great Depression, Doug learned the value of hard work, education, and being thoughtful with money. When he was 19, he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and discovered that he wanted to pursue engineering. He attended the University of Maryland and earned his BS in Electrical Engineering in 1959. The job market for the aerospace industry was booming in California where he relocated to work for McDonnell Douglas, TRW, Northrop, and Hughes. He continued his education at USC and received his MBA in industrial management. He loved his little family and his career and worked mostly on commercial satellite projects for 42 years. When he retired, he went back to school to earn another degree in interior design and architecture.
His retirement was productive, helping family, friends, and neighbors with design projects, playing tennis, going to the gym, investing, and spending time with family. He was a gentleman and loving family man. He will be sorely missed.
The family will have a private burial service on July 6, 2026.
