

On Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 Earl Allen Johnson Jr. passed away at the age of 82 from cancer. He died at his home in Orange County surrounded by family.
He was born in San Bernardino to Earl and Laura Johnson. He is survived by His son Earl Johnson III, daughter Dawn Cox, son in law Gary Cox, daughter in law Clare Johnson, grandchildren Marilyn and Jacob Cox, sister in law Carolyn Franck, niece and nephew Jennifer and Jeremy Gilrein, and great nieces and nephews Ryan, Maye, and Tyler Gilrein.
He grew up in Eagle Rock, Ca and graduated from Eagle Rock High School in 1955. He stayed in touch with a group of his high school friends until his death. During the 1950’s he enlisted in the Air Force and worked on supply missions to the Aleutian Islands and other locations in Alaska.
In 1962, He married Janice Carter and became a widower upon her death in 2001. After studying engineering at Glendale College, he accepted a job at AC Compacting Presses in 1967. relocated to New Jersey where he and his family resided until 1971.
In 1971 he moved his family back to California and resided in Orange County. Within a few years of returning to California he bought a small metal working company called Compax. He nurtured its growth, and transformed it into a cutting-edge manufacturing company that continues to thrive and provide for his family and its employees today.
In the 1970’s he had a passion for horse riding with family and friends. He was also an avid tennis player. He enjoyed playing both tennis and golf with friends at Ridgeline Country Club. In the early 1980’s he and a group of his high school friends purchased thoroughbred horses that raced at Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del Mar race tracks.
In 2006 he purchased a second home in Beaumont next door to his daughter’s family so that he could be an active participant in the lives of his grandchildren. He immensely enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and other friends he met in his second home.
In his final years he enjoyed trips to the beach, and camping getaways with friends, and family.
He died peacefully and content with the life that he had lead. He will be deeply missed but not forgotten.
