Edward Wesley (“Wes”) Vaughan, 77, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. He leaves behind his wife of 12 years, Janet Vaughan. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Suzanne. His is also survived by his 2 daughters Synthia Ann Scholze (Adam) and Sherilyn Diane Floyd (Richard), his son Stephen Wesley Vaughan (Krista), his sister Karen Magness, twelve grandchildren, and many dear, close friends. Born in San Bernardino, California, Wes was raised in Colton, California. He was the son of Benjamin Wesley and Florence Elizabeth (Bawcombe) Vaughan. He was a lifelong resident of Southern California. In his early years, Wes spent much time at the bowling alley and the little league field. After graduating from Colton High School in 1956, he attended the University of California at Riverside. He then went on to finish his education at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. After graduating, he began a career with Pacific Telephone which lasted 35 years. After retirement, Wes began a second career as a tax preparer, first with H&R Block, and then with his own, home-based business which was called Etcetera Business Services. Wes married Suzanne in 1962. Over the next 39 years, Wes and Suzanne raised their 3 children. They lived in San Diego, San Bernardino, Sunnyvale (California) and then Lincroft, New Jersey, before settling in Placentia, California in 1972. Wes could be quite often found coaching soccer and little league baseball. Much of his free time was spent volunteering at Placentia Presbyterian Church. After their children were raised, Wes and Suzanne filled their time with travel; playing golf, Angel Baseball games and watching their grandchildren grow. They moved to Bear Creek in Murrieta, CA in 1998 to truly begin living “the Good-Golfing Life”, complete with a jazzy red golf cart. Sadly, their time together was cut way too short, when “Suzy” was diagnosed with ALS disease and passed away in 2001. A new chapter of life began when Wes met Janet and they were married in 2003. They have lived together in their home in Murrieta ever since. They truly enjoyed all the best things in life together… playing golf, dinners out with good friends and playing in fierce bocce ball and shuffle board competitions in their Four Seasons neighborhood. Wes and Janet belonged to a vibrant, active golf club as well. Wes spent a tremendous amount of his down time on the executive board for the homeowners association—he was great at this task and enjoyed single every minute with diplomacy. Wes and Janet also started a husband and wife tax preparation business together and spent a substantial amount of time in the beginning of each year preparing tax returns and serving their client’s needs. Trips to amazing destinations, visiting their 12 grandchildren around the country, and fan following their beloved California Angels, are just a few more things to mention that made their life so sweet.. To say Wes was a “true” lifelong, Angel baseball fan would be an incredible understatement! He attended so many Angel games at the” Big A” in Anaheim, including every home single game of the 2002 World Series. He also had on his bucket list to visit all of the major league stadiums across the United States….he was very close to accomplishing this goal!! During his lifetime, Wes touched many lives. His calm nature, thoughtfulness, and generosity were just a few of his characteristics that made him a true “gem” of a guy. He will be deeply and sincerely missed by all. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on December 18th at Fairhaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Santa Ana, CA at 2:30 in the afternoon in the Waverly Chapel. Reception will immediately follow in the Waverly Gallery. Private Burial for immediate family only at graveside will be beginning at 1:30 in the afternoon.
