Emiko "Emi" Kusano

Emiko (Emi) Kusano age 97 passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025 at a Guardian Angels home in Santa Ana. Emi was born on April 9, 1928 in Puente, California to Yukiye and Tomio Okada. She met her husband Joe Kusano at Heart Mountain Internment Camp in Wyoming and they married on May 16, 1953 and lived in Orange, California until January 2025 when she moved into the Guardian Angels home. She was a beloved wife and mother of three daughters and one son. She worked as a seamstress for a number of years. She made all her clothes and clothes for her children. She also was a great cook and it frustrated her when the Guardian Angels wouldn’t let her help in the kitchen. She enjoyed TaiChi and Line Dancing with her friends until she slowed down in her late 80’s.

Emi is survived by her four children, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren along with two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.

Emi did not wish a funeral or memorial service so she will be cremated and buried next to her husband at Fairhaven Cemetery. She will be missed dearly.
