

Frank Charles Wasmer, 77, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Santa Ana, California. Born on December 18, 1947, in Buffalo, New York, Frank lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, deep love for his family, and an infectious sense of humor that brightened the lives of all who knew him.
Frank built a distinguished career in engineering and hospitality. He was recognized for his exceptional work as Director of Engineering at the Westin Century Plaza Hotel and Towers. His leadership and expertise left a lasting impact on the industry. He later retired as Director of Engineering for JC Resorts at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, concluding a career defined by excellence and commitment.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Frank was a man of many passions. A talented musician and songwriter, he found joy in playing the guitar and sharing music with others. He was also a certified commercial diver—an adventurous pursuit that reflected his fearless spirit. Frank loved to cook and took pride in preparing meals for those he cared about. He spent countless hours restoring his beloved 1994 Ford F-150, a project that combined his mechanical skill with personal pride. Sailing and traveling were among his favorite pastimes, offering him both peace and exploration.
Frank’s warmth and generosity were legendary. Known for his quick wit and boundless kindness, he had an uncanny ability to lift spirits with laughter while offering unwavering support. As described by those closest to him, he was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back—and make you laugh while doing it.
He is survived by his devoted wife Christine Wasmer and her family; his daughter Jessica Wasmer and her fiancé Robert Wilkins; two cherished granddaughters, Adalynn and Trinity, his loving sisters Patti Kerwin, Nancy La Fornara and her husband Joe LaFornara, several nieces and nephews and his beloved animals; Roxy, Koko, Uber and Sicky the fish.
Frank was preceded in death by his father Frank George Wasmer, stepmother Elvera Wasmer, mother-in-law Shirley Jewell, brother in law Brian Kerwin and best friend Ira White.
A memorial service celebrating Frank’s life will be held graveside at Holy Sepulcher in Orange, California.
