

Gordon was born on April 21, 1936, in Tucson, Arizona to Fred and Anne Niedringhaus. His parents, brother Alan and he moved to Santa Ana, California in 1940 where his father became the minister of the First Congregational Church. Gordon attended Santa Ana schools. Upon his graduation from Santa Ana College, he went back to Tucson and attended the University of Arizona and then graduated from Chapman College. Following his school days, he was drafted into the Army and served two years in Seattle. Before his 2-year stint in the Army, he met his future wife Ann and would marry her 5 months after leaving the service in 1962. They raised two children, Karen (son-in-law Chris) and Michael (daughter-in-law Toni). He loved spending time with his family. Gordon and Ann were blessed with four granddaughters, Jessica, Allison, Jennifer and Laura. He worked in Santa Ana in the Regional Office of State Farm for 15 years before starting his own wall covering business. Gordon and Ann enjoyed camping, traveling, and bicycling. He loved listening to music and performing it. Gordon sang in the Orange County Master Chorale for many years as well as in church choirs and with the Paul McNeff Singers. He also performed barbershop and participated in multiple church musicals. He was known as a very kind man with a wonderful laugh. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Gordon’s name made out to the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Ana is appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 28th 3:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 600 N. Main in Santa Ana.
