Gregoria "Maria" Marquez

Gregoria Jaime Marquez also known as Maria was born on May 9,1942 and passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 83. A resident of Santa Monica, California. Maria was a beloved matriarch and a guiding light to her family and community.

Born to Teodoro and Aurora Marquez, grew up with her siblings Margarita , Salvador ,Cosme, Lupe, Juanita ,and Candelaro in El Cubo, Mexico. She moved to the US in the 1960’s.

Maria is survived by her children: Daniella ( married to Randy Martinez) Dolores (married to Daniel Kreutel), Michael , Jackie, Estella, Jacob, Paul, Victor and Jasmine

The family cherished traditions during Christmas and making tamales. Memorable summer trips to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Palm Springs and Las Vegas. Maria enjoyed traveling back home and visiting Guanajuato.

Maria was passionate about spending time with family, journal writing, taking photos, and enjoyed watching classical and horror movies. She was known for her love of planting and floral arrangements. Her house was always filled with potted plants and fresh flowers. She loved nature, animals, and birds. Her favorite was humming birds and often referred to them as “ her babies”.

Maria was a devout Catholic and very active in the church community. She attended mass regularly. She was a proud member of Our Lady of Guadalupe church group, participated in religious retreats and donated to charitable groups.

Maria’s devotion to God and her family continues through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and was loved by so many.

The funeral mass is scheduled at Holy Family Catholic Church, 566 S Glassell St, Orange, California, 92866, on February 13, 2026, from 10:00 am -11:00 am

A vigil will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, Waverley Chapel, located at 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, California, 92705, on February 13, 2026, from 11:30 -1:30 pm

A burial will take place at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, located at 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, California, 92705, on February 13, 2026, from 2:00-3:00 pm

A reception will be held afterwards at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, Legacy Chapel located at 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, California, 92705, on February 13, 2026, starting at 3:30 pm
