Guadalupe Reyes Gonzales, age 91, passed away from this life peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. “Lupe” was born, September 23, 1931, to Miguel and Guadalupe Reyes in Los Angeles, California. She often joked about her birthplace being the 3rd base of Dodger Stadium, Palo Verde aka Chavez Ravine, where the young family lived. It was the future site of the stadium. She was the younger sister to Maria Elena Banda, and Miguel Jr.
The Reyes family moved to Santa Ana where her father opened Reyes Market. Lupe helped her family run the neighborhood market where her hard work and loyalty were developed and always on display. The family was a pillar of the community. Her beauty and grace were characteristics that led to her reign “Reina de las Fiestas Patrias” in Santa Ana. She met and later married Gilbert Gonzales and together they welcomed two beloved sons, Gilbert, and Oscar. She cared for her husband and sons with great devotion, dedicating her life to cooking delicious meals and providing a comfortable, loving home for the men of her life. She enjoyed creating beautiful cakes, reading, traveling and serving her family, immediate and extended.
Lupe had a lifelong love for her Savior Jesus Christ. Her huge heart, generosity, forgiveness, and joyfulness were proof of that. She is now in her Savior’s presence, surely dancing with those who she longed to see again: her parents, her sister, Nena, her niece, Chila, and many more family members including the many cousins she spent her life enjoying and blessing. Lupe is survived by her devoted sons, Gilbert, Oscar her loyal daughter- in- law, Luisa grandchildren Melissa , Christian, Sebastian as well as many other family members and friends.
