Guido Fernández, 89, of Placentia, California, passed away on July 11, 2026 at 10:22am, surrounded by those who loved him. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, and true to his character, he fought the Parkinson’s Disease and related Dementia with which he had been diagnosed, valiantly until the end. We are thankful for the glory in which we hope to meet him again in the Resurrection, but until then, he will be deeply missed.
Guido was born in Matanzas, Cuba, on August 30, 1936, to Enrique and Erundina Fernández. He became the youngest instructor at the technical school from which he graduated, and married his wife of 65 years, Trinidad (Vallejo) on June 17, 1961. He escaped from Cuba in September of 1961, allowing Trinidad to then follow him and ultimately give birth to their three children, in the United States. Our family is eternally grateful for his foresight and courage in taking this brave action. In love with his new country, Guido moved his family to Oklahoma, and then California, where he worked for Volkswagon and then opened his own auto shop in 1979, with his younger brother Ariel. In 1990, he fought and beat cancer, and thanked God for every day that followed.
Guido is survived by his wife, Trinidad; brother, Ariel; sons Guido (Rebecca) of Henderson, Nevada; David (Whitney) of Riverside, California; daughter, Nadina (Perry) of Anaheim, California; and his beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Megan, Isabella, Julia, Elena, and Tristan.
An Anglo-Catholic Funeral Mass in honor of Guido will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Park, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana on July 20th, 2025, at 10 a.m. This will be followed by graveside prayers at approximately 11:30 a.m. and lunch reception at noon, all on site. The family invites all who knew him to attend and share their favorite memories. As an American patriot, donations to https://buildinghomesforheroes.org/ in his name are welcomed.
